Artist/instructors attend a week long Art Institute conducted by Mark LaRiviere and other art professionals. This annual gathering is also attended by art educators and classroom teachers in the CCVAP program. The workshop trains artist/instructors to integrate age appropriate art instruction into the core-curriculum. In September of 2011, 20 teachers and two staff developers participated in the Art Institute.

This year’s focus was on designing art lessons that complemented classroom lessons. Other activities included introduction to new art materials, analyzing children’s art, studying art making processes and field trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
